“Let's Get Real About Support for Women”

Featuring Susie Lee, Former CEO of Siren,
Entrepreneur, Artist, Educator and Scientist

Susie Lee

Susie Lee’s ensemble of work “explores intimacy, time, and connection through technology, fluidly embedding new media across many platforms.” This perspective flows through each of her endeavors, whether it is the science behind her research in diabetes, the internship in a long-term care facility that resulted in an award-winning art project, Still Lives, or in the passion that gave birth to Siren, a dating app that put women on more equal footing in the online dating world.

Her life has been filled with exploration, but her experiences during the past several years as a leader in the tech world have added depth to her conversations about the topic of how women participate and are heard in life. Siren was conceived to put the power in the on-line dating world into women’s hands, and thanks to Siren, the conversation changed. Women gained greater control and access to a more humane experience, the antidote to the swipe. Though Siren was forced to close its doors this year due to funding challenges, user success stories of connection are the true testament to the difference the company made and to its success.

We hope to see you in September as Susie delves into what she learned from her experiences as an entrepreneur and shares her insights regarding what women can do to pave the road for other women to succeed and thrive. She will reflect on what it meant to start a company as a woman in the tech industry, make it successful and then have to make an unexpected left turn. And, as she crafts her own next best step, she will talk about how to transform in a meaningful way to pursue your passions and support other women as they pursue theirs.
