WBE History
The Women’s Business Exchange was founded in 1979 by Donna Nunn as a place for women with powerful ambitions and varied talents to share business opportunities.
Almost thirty years later WBE is still going strong.
Today, our members are a diverse group of women (and a few brave men). Some are business owners, some are employed professionals, and some are in transition between the two. Wherever you stand, our mission is to help you find ways to combine spirit, leadership and a deep sense of community to create greater success.
We help you achieve business and personal growth through networking, professional education, leadership training, mentoring and exposure to community issues, business trends and vital business concerns. We also partner with other organizations in the community to offer you access to even more powerful resources—often at discounted rates.
Our Organization
An all volunteer 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, WBE is run by a volunteer WBE Board of Directors and Executive Board. Each of our breakfasts and events are completely volunteer organized and run. We invite you to consider volunteering to assist the board members in a variety of tasks that will help you build relationships while making a valuable contribution to the organization.
WBE Objectives
- To provide a forum for women seeking to be more powerful in business; opening the doors of opportunity for the exchange of leads, referrals and information.
- To redefine networking as more than just the exchange of information about each participant’s business – whether employer or employee – and to promote interaction on all levels.
- To increase the visibility and recognition of outstanding women in the business community.
- To provide training for women interested in leadership development and to teach them to become better role models.
- To provide a safe, nurturing environment for women seeking personal, economic and spiritual growth.
- To challenge participants to be the best they can be on civic, personal and business levels.
- To educate and inspire participants by bringing in well-known breakfast speakers to share their insights about interesting and timely topics.
