Andrea Ramage

Director of Sustainable Solutions at CH2M HILL

In 1993, Andrea left the East Coast to take a job with CH2M HILL in Portland, Oregon, as a geotechnical engineer. The move fulfilled a life-long dream of living in the West. Portland is a hot bed of “green,” and it wasn’t long before the city’s culture re-ignited Andrea’s passion for the environment.

Before long, sustainability supplanted geotechnical engineering in Andrea’s vision for her future. With luck, pluck, hard work, and lots of help, Andrea became a sustainability professional. She started CH2M HILL’s environmental performance program in 2000, which manages the environmental impacts of this $6 billion company’s fleet, facilities, procurement, travel, and information technology operations. In 2004, Andrea took a new job as the company’s Director of Sustainable Solutions and assembled a team to reshape the company’s business strategy in this area. In the process, she guided the publication of three sustainability reports and established CH2M HILL as a leader in the field of sustainable solutions.

Meanwhile…. Andrea met her husband Michael and moved to Seattle, where their “kids” include Yingko (a blue and gold macaw parrot) and Sam (a Peruvian guinea pig).

Now, Andrea is reinventing her career again. Sustainability remains a passion, with a new dimension – how can people make good decisions together for the benefit of their communities and the planet? She is a trained facilitator and is currently learning how different art forms (improve theatre, poetry, song, etc.) can be used to enhance group facilitation.

August Breakfast

Our August breakfast is an annual, invitation only special event dedicated to recognizing and celebrating our volunteers. We will be back to our regular breakfast schedule on September 9th with Janis Avery, CEO of Treehouse, who will speak on the topic of: Challenge, Change and Creativity - How To Turn Life's Obstacles into Business Opportunities (or Opportunities for Growth). Online registration for our September event will begin on August 13th. We hope you will join us then.
