Breakfast Speakers

Each month at the WBE Breakfast we have an inspirational speaker. Thank you to all of our speakers!  Our speaker for May 2007 was:

Wendy Boglioli

Finding the Champion Within:
What it takes to Succeed in Life, Over and Over Again.

Olympic Bronze and gold medalist, motivational speaker and long-term care educator, Wendy Boglioli believes in women and their capacity to set goals that others may view as lofty and achieve them - to reinvent themselves over and over again. What this requires, according to Boglioli is: having plans in place, being dedicated to making them happen, and finding ways to be inspired everyday to continue to strive toward realizing them.

Widely recognized for her world record-setting accomplishments in the pool, Boglioli's own determination and dedication was evident from an early age as she trained in a cold Wisconsin lake coached only by her parents. Growing up the second youngest in a family of seven children, she worked hard to show herself, her family and the world what she was capable of.

One of the earliest women recipients of a collegiate athletic scholarship (Monmouth University, NJ), Wendy traveled around the world, including behind the Iron Curtain, and seized one swimming accolade after another. She was the first woman ever to set an American record at an Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (AIAW) championship. Upon marrying, the matured Wendy Boglioli was poised to capture her lifelong goal in the 1976 Summer Olympic Games in Montréal.

Wendy served as co-head coach of the Yale University Swim Team together with her husband Bernie Boglioli, before embarking on a career as a motivational speaker and spokesperson

In 1997, Boglioli switched gears to concentrate on a career in the Long Term Care Insurance field. Once again displaying her dedication and drive to succeed, she quickly reached the pinnacle as one of the nation's finest Regional Product Specialists with Genworth Financial.

Remaining a trailblazer for women, Wendy's personal initiative, In the Arms of Women, is the first of its kind to market Long Term Care Insurance to women clients for their distinctive needs. Recognizing that many financial advisors have failed to adequately educate their clients on the importance of long term care planning, Wendy assumed her latest role as national spokeswoman for Genworth Financial's Long Term Care Division where she offers lectures and workshops on the importance of understanding Long Term Care Insurance.

Wendy's speaking resumé is extensive. For three decades, she has spoken before a diverse group of people, ranging from American presidents, CEO's and scholars to fellow athletes and children. She continues to be an involved member of both the International Olympic Committee and U.S. Olympic Committees' Alumni Associations and is often interviewed in the national media (including ABC News, FOX News, and NBC's Dateline).

Together with her husband of thirty years, Wendy Boglioli has three children and one grandchild. She brings thirty years of speaking and a lifetime of dedication to each engagement she attends, whether she is discussing her role as an Olympic athlete or as a certified specialist and spokeswoman for Long Term Care Insurance. In our May breakfast, Wendy will speak to us about Finding the Champion Within: what it takes to succeed in life, over and over again.
