Breakfast Speakers

Each month at the WBE Breakfast we have an inspirational speaker. Thank you to all of our speakers!  Our speaker for July 2007 was:

Karen Ramsey

Caring for Your Soul in Matters of Money

Years ago Karen Ramsey recognized that she could never seem to get ahead financially, in spite of working very hard. She shares that she responded by "working even harder and resigning myself to the fact that struggling about money was just a fact of life." Then Karen’s perspective was radically shifted by a book: Money and the Meaning of Life by Jacob Needleman.

Karen discovered that she held core subconscious beliefs around money that she had learned growing up on a working farm, beliefs she refers to as money baggage. This money baggage was responsible for her financial limitations. When she began her practice as a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ Practioner, Karen saw that many of her clients carried their own money baggage. From this understanding, grew the workshops and books that Karen created to help people:

  • get unhooked from their limiting beliefs about money
  • adopt new beliefs
  • embrace a new relationship with money
  • position themselves to be able to truly bring their purpose to the world.
Karen strongly believes that "to the extent in which you examine your relationship with money, you can learn to know yourself."

Karen Ramsey began her career as a human resource director. When she was laid off from this position, she found herself doing some serious soul-searching. In a profound moment of inspiration, she felt guided to create work helping people with their money. She chose to become a CFP®, to bring together her natural analytical abilities and her love for people. Karen has built a thriving business (Ramsey and Associates) over the past 16 years that focuses on comprehensive financial planning and financial education. She also just launched an innovative, on-line investment management service, RamseyInvesting.com, that provides clients with portfolio management via computer and telephone.

Karen is the respected author of two books, Think Again: New Money Choices, Old Money Myths, and Caring For Your Soul In Matters of Money®, published in 2006. She has received significant recognition for her work including being sited in:

Seattle Magazine in Spring 2007 as a "FIVE STAR Wealth Manager: Best in Client Satisfaction"

Bloomberg Financial Magazine as among the "Top Wealth Managers" for 2005 and 2006"

Mutual Funds Magazine as one of the "100 Great Financial Planners for 2002"

Karen is profiled in the book, The Wealth Factor: Outstanding Wealth Managers for 2003. She has also appeared on Seattle TV as host of a one-hour program, "The Money Myth With Karen Ramsey", and is a frequent guest on the new KCTS TV show "About The Money" which debuted in February, 2007. Join us at our July breakfast and begin the process of transforming your own relationship with money with Karen Ramsey as your guide!
