Each month at the WBE Breakfast we have an inspirational speaker. Thank you to all of our speakers! Our speaker for April 2010 was:
Cracking the Balance Myth – The 7 Steps to Sanity Jennifer is a Naturopath, qualified Aromatherapist, author, speaker and the Managing Director of her own company, Jennifer Jefferies International. She is a native Australian, born in Brisbane in the subtropics of the East Coast, where she resides today. Jennifer started out in the army and then moved into various positions and industries in the corporate world. Like many career-minded women in the 1980’s, she embraced the work-hard, play-harder mentality of the times. And she could have continued along that path forever, except for that fateful accident when she wrapped her car around a tree. On the long road back to health, Jennifer realized how mentally and physically exhausted she was, and how much she craved a more balanced life. Taking things one day at a time, Jennifer began a slow recovery, hoping to achieve not only physical health, but a happier, more fulfilling purpose in the future. Today Jennifer works as a professional speaker. Her life is just as demanding as it was back in her corporate days, but the difference is that now, she listens to her body, pays attention to its messages and uses common sense steps she developed and memorialized in her book, 7 Steps to Sanity, to keep herself and others who seek her advise on track. Jennifer believes that your career doesn’t have to be an “all of nothing” game. You can do everything you want, achieve everything you’re aiming for, as long as you take time to look inward, check your happiness meter and heed your body’s cues. Jennifer knows that if you don’t support the machinery that has to get you there – your body and mind – you won’t make it. Her book, 7 Steps to Sanity, is a culmination of a lifetime’s worth of experience. With practical tips and simple steps, Jennifer shares how you too can turn your life around. Jennifer tells us that she spent the first half of her adult life doing damage to herself. Today she’s here to proclaim the benefits of a more joyous way of working and living.
